FIRST CIRCULAR AND CALL FOR PAPERS
The eleventh Symposium on
Earthquake Engineering will be held at the University of Roorkee, from December 17-19,
1998. Ten events of similar nature have been held in the past since 1959 at an interval
of four years and have made significant impact on education, research and developmental
activities in the field of Earthquake Engineering. The proposed event, eleventh
in the series, is a step to achieve the goals set by earlier symposia and will provide
an opportunity to researchers, professionals, planners and policy makers associated
with the field of Earthquake Engineering all over the world to share the latest
knowledge and techniques for mitigating the impact of earthquakes on natural and
built environment. The event is expected to provide future direction for research
in twenty first century through mutual dialogue and exchange of knowledge
