A railway wagon shock table facility
has been set up for testing of large size structural models for shock loading.
The facility consists of 3 railway wagons rolling on a 120 ft long railway
track which has on incline at both its ends to facilitate rolling of the
wagon for loading purposes. The central wagon is used as a platform for
mounting models and the other two for imparting shock (through springs)
and rebound respectively. Large number of experiments have been performed
on this facility for comparing the efficiency of various strengthening
techniques for masonry buildings.
