Roorkee and within Situated in the foot hills of the Himalaya, Roorkee is very close to pilgrimage places and centres of tourist attraction like Hardwar, Rishikesh, Mussoorie etc. Roorkee is located on the Amritsar -Howrah main line of Northern Railway and is well connected by road to Delhi, De hradun, Hardwar, Rishikesh and other places in Punjab and Haryana. The nearest internati onal airport is New Delhi. Many flights of domestic air carriers operate from Jolly Grant air port (Dehradun) which is approximately 70 km from Roorkee. Winter is pleasantly cool at Roorkee during December, with temperatures at Roorkee ranging from 20 C to 120 C and heavy wool len clothes are needed.
