During 1996, Information Superhighway Centre has been established in the University with the initial funds received from the U.P.Govt. The Centre is located at the first floor in the premises of University Library. VSAT system in the Centre was installed during the first week of March 1996. On March 12, Honourable Chancellor H.E. Shri Motilal Vora ji. Governor of Uttar Pradesh, inaugurated the VSAT System by pressing a key on console from the Convocation Hall and sent the first messages to H.E. the president of India Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma, H.E. the Vice President of India, Shri K.R.Narayanan and the Honourable Prime Minister of India Shri P.V.Narasimha Rao.

With the commissioning of VSAT University has acquired full 8-Bit Class-C INTERNET Network connectivity with a address space of 256 nodes. With this accessibility our Research and academic community enters in a new era of Cyberspace. We can now able to share wealth of information available on the Internet with our co- workers using information resource tools and search engines such as FTP Servers, Gopher Server, TELNET and the WWW. These tools also allows us to view and download a wide range of relevant documents, graphics images, source codes and other available information. Internet is infect the largest information source now a day in the world. It covers almost every area of topics ranges from social, cultural, business, Entertainment, sports to Educational Technical. Under Education and research network program of Govt of India, Indian geostationary satellite INSAT-2B have provide one normal C-Band transponder for ERNET for interlinkige of Universitys and Research Institutions. International carrier for ERNET, ERNET SATWAN HUB is situated at IISc, Bangalore. We are remotely connected to that HUB through DOE's ERNET via VSAT looking at INSAT-2B with an inroute speed at 128 kbps and outroute speed at 512 kbps. Various services available through this system are On Line E-mail, Telnet, FTP, Gopher and WWW;

E-Mail E-mail allows users to exchange written messages via the computer

TELNET Telnet permits users to log into another system in Network and run their software remotely, which means users in terminal emulation mode can log on to another systems and use various services available there,

FTP FTP Tool provides a collection of files that users can copy across the INTERNET to their systems and vice-versa,

WWW World Wide Web, provides hypermedia information that enables easy world wide access to information via hypertext servers on simply point and click from one document to another using web clients popularly known as web browsers.

Besides, University is also connected to NICNET - a network of National Informatic Centre. This may also be used for sending or receiving E-Mails within the country.
