From the Desk of Vice Chancellor
The rapid growth
and professionalisation of industry, services and business over the past
few decades have led to an increasing demand for professional managers
across the world. The globalization of the economy and the liberalization
measures introduced in our country in early 90s, have accelerated this
process. To meet the demand of professionally trained management personnel,
a large number of Management Institutes have been set up. The gap between
the supply and the demand, however, remains - specially for high quality
programmes.
University of Roorkee, the first
engineering institution to be set up in India in 1847, has established
a worldwide reputation among the foremost centres of teaching and research.
The University has 3000 students in 19 academic Departments/Centres of
Engineering and Technology, Sciences and Humanities and Social Sciences.
The University is rated at the top of the Science and Technology Institutions
of higher learning in coveted sector employment in India.
The MBA programme at this University
was started in July 1998. The programme is being conducted by full, part-time
and visiting faculty, representing a blend of academic and professional
excellence. A global perspective is adopted in curricular, summer training,
teaching and project assignments. The programme is supported by academic
infrastructure, including library, state-of the-art com puting and multi-media
connectivity through our own VSAT. The University has a collaboration agreement
with the International MBA Programme of Fachhochschule E sslingen-Hochschule
fur Technik (FHTE) Germany for faculty and student exchange. The University
assists students in summer training and in placement at the end of the
course.
I have great pleasure in extending
a warm welcome to the prospective students.
